Valid TD visa but I-94 expire

Hi,

My wife's TD visa will be expired in Aug 2012.
Her I-94 will be expired in Aug 2011.

Does she have to get new I-94 before Aug 2011?
Can she stay in USA until Aug 2012 without leaving the country?

I heard that as long as TD visa is valid, I-94 expiration date doesn't matter.

-- It is exactly the other way. The I-94 date is more important - one can stay in the country as long as the I-94 is valid, even if the visa expires. You become out of status after the expiry of your I-94.

Is there any way for wife to renew I-94 without leaving US? (such as application by mail).
If so, what form should I use?

btw, she is not canadian.

You can extend an existing status by mail, using I-539. so she needs to submit this by aug 2011. It will be extended only as long as your TN validity.
