any comments?

please let me know if an expired passport will be an issue, i will immediately apply for a passport.
all my travels ( total of three) are in the expired passport.
thanks

Passport is not needed for getting citizenship. Only a copy of the front and back of your green card should be sent in along with the application. I would advise you to apply for a new passport as it will make your international travels easy. ( if you have plans of any travel out of the US in the future!)

If the question is in relation to filing for N-400, having a valid passport is not a requirement. You should have a valid Green card, and meet all conditions as listed on N-400.
Pls be careful that all travel you list on N-400 are accounted for, on this expired passport AND was made before that passport expired.
It may be prudent for you to check with your Consulate here , if anything needs to be done ..... OR.... it would be OK to just surrender this expired passport back when/if you get US citizenship.

On a personal note, it is best keeping your travel documents current as one may never know when a travel would need to happen, and being prepared calls for current docs.

thanks for the responses.
I do have a valid green card and will send the copy. my passport expired 2 years ago and i didnt plan travelling and not planning to travel in near future. however you are right. as soon as "if" i get my US passport i will also go to my consulate and inform them for my dual citizenship and renew my passport. since i was paying fo citizenship application, fees etc. i didnt want to pay another couple hundreds to renew my old passport right now. eventually i certainly will.
My concern is IO might ask a proof that i stayed in the USA ( which i did) during the last two years.
My question is shoud i bring some documents like bills, credit card statements to show i was in the USA and working.

I know they have probably an extensive computer system seeing where i was, or my travel history tough...

They like to see the passport when you have too many travels in the last five years and for your case you only have three travels and are in the passport so you don't need to renew your passport just for the sake of the interview you are fine. I had three trips one for 35 days and two little ones for Canada and the IO didnt open the passport to check. He only went over the application and asked what the travel were for just for formal procedure.
About the credit card, bills etc you only need to bring those if you had extensive/long travels just in case you have to explain you didn't break the required stay in the US during your Green Card. How long were your trips?
OOh yes I should have mentioned that mine had expired in 2009!

Bring the expired passport to the interview, and you won't have a problem as far as the passport is concerned.

I have a different passport question... I have a valid passport at the moment but can not locate my first passport (the one that I had when I was a child). The interview document checklist asks you to bring "all passports and travel documents (including expired and current) issued to you by any government." How essential is it to have ALL passports on hand?

It would be extremely rare for them to ask for the passport you had as a child unless they discovered a discrepancy with your green card process and the passport is somehow related to the discrepancy. They almost never care about passports that expired more than 5 years ago (i.e. outside the 5-year window for continuous residence).

Thanks for the response. I had my interview last week and the officer did not ask for the first passport. He just browsed through the ones I provided.
