Hi,
I've just received the 2nd NL stating that I must take my vaccination records to the medical appointment ... I have no idea where to get the records, or even which vaccinations it is in reference to.. is it just the vaccinations you get when you are a baby and primary school age?
where do you access your records, do you have to go to the doctor that administered the vaccines?
any guidance would help.. especially anyone in Australia..
cheers

When u go for ur medical examination at the embassy appointed physician/doctors, they will tell u what vaccination u need to do. It depends on how old u are that will determine wht vaccines u need to take.

To avoid getting vacination you don't need because you had them, the doctor can take some blood and test it for what you had and that way you can save some money. If you are a woman between 12 and 27 you need Gardasil vaccins. (3 shots), soon there will be something similar for men, but not yet.

Hello ancatdubh,

First, find a Civil Surgeons (https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV). There might be a bunch in your area and their fees could vary a big deal so I suggest you call some of them and decide which one is best for you. When you call, ask them what are the vaccines that they will require.

Please read these Queries and Answers http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...toid=1758d5b07655b110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD

Note: Gardasil is not longer required since 12/14/2009 (source: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2009-11-13/pdf/E9-27317.pdf page 4) and you don't need to complete the entire series of a required vaccine.

I wasn't aware of the chances regarding the Gardasil vaccin. My friend needed to have proof of Gardasil when she came to the civil surgeons office but that was before Dec. 2009...to me the Gardasil vaccin was non sense any way, due to her being over here on a visa for over 10 years and with visa's they never requested any vaccin's...She had Gardasil because her parents and her thought it was a good thing, but that is a different discussion.

Hello ancatdubh,

I think that I committed a mistake. You were referring to a Consular Interview and I thought that you were talking about an Adjustment of Status case. The link to find the Civil Surgeons does not apply to consular processing. In your second notification letter you should have the surgeon or list of surgeons where you can have the medical exam. I suggest that you call them and ask for what vaccinations they will require. These vaccinations are the ones that you had as a baby and later, they are from your immunization history.

Good luck and sorry for my mistake

Thanks for all the responses - I will be doing Consular Processing so slightly different to AOS..

My problem is that I have no records of the vaccinations I got as a child (I only have a record of Gardasil which I got a few months ago.. haha now it's not necessary!) The government didn't start keeping vaccination records until after I had all mine..

So I understand that the panel doctor the embassy told us to go to can administer any vaccinations I haven't had.. but if I have had them and just don't have the proof, would they accept your word for it, or make you take them all again? I assume it's quite expensive to get them all done.

Many thanks

Hello ancatdubh,

Don't worry too much. Call the Doctor's office and ask them what are the vaccinations that they will require in your case (the requirements vary based on gender and age). I am not sure if the Doctor would take your word on the vaccinations that you have had but maybe they can validate that some vaccinations were provided for your age group.

In my case I did not have any records and I only needed 2 shots. My case is a little different because I am doing Adjustment of Status and I went to a Civil Surgeons in the US.

If the Doctor requires one or more shots, then you can have them somewhere else, no need to have then at that Doctor's office. That way you can save some money going to a public health center, family Doctor, etc.

Good luck!

The probable won't take you word for it, but a guy from Australia wrote on one of the forums (over a year ago) that the docotr took a blood sample and they can detect which vaccin you still need and maybe you already had them all. I wouldn't like to get things I don't need and the doctors will know that. Maybe your physician will still have records or the county. In some countries there is a health care county system that keeps records but I don't know for how long, or perhaps your parents have papers like mine had.

Unfortunately Australia only started a national register of vaccinations in 1996, which is after I had all my childhood shots.

I called the panel doctor though and was advised by the receptionist that if you don't have a written record of vaccinations you can just discuss with the doctor what you have had and then work out what (if any) you need.

Hopefully it will be as simple as that and not too costly!!

Hi ancatdubh - sorry to dredge up old thread! But i was wondering how it went in the end and what extra (if any) vaccines you needed, and was it expensive etc...

Many thanks!

Hi TamaraM,
I didn't manage to find any old vaccination records so the Panel Dr we saw (in Melbourne) said all we had to get based on age was the Diptheria tetanus polio vaccine and the measles mumps rubella vaccine - called Boostrix. I got it done at the local GP and it didn't cost me anything. I had chicken pox when i was a kid so didn't need that vaccine. My husband had those 2 vaccines done at the panel doctors surgery and it cost him $110.
Posted the records to the Doctor and it was all fine.
