Using the same AP twice

Hi,
    A friend of mine now waiting for his I-485 to be approved, had travelled abroad for about 6 weeks on AP and re-entered the country without any problem. But a family emergency is forcing to travel abroad again immediately (today). Does anyone know if there will be any problem re-entering the country on the SAME AP again, i.e., he has all three copies of the AP with him and does not have the time to get another AP, if another set of 3 AP copies are needed. Anyone in the knowhow please respond....

If the same AP has a time which is in the duaration of his travel and if it is a mutiple entry AP , he can travel on that AP, also if he goes to the local INS office they issue AP\'s on the same day, if that is not possible one can file for an AP for him to be pickedup in the country he is travelling( this might be a little risky thing, he can travel right away and have AP issued to him and mailed to him at his address abroad, at which time he can use that to reenter..Hope this helps

I know for a fact that the existing AP that he is holding is a MULTIPLE ENTRY ONE and that it expiration date is ONLY sometime NEXT YEAR. Do you think that is sufficient?
I don\'t think he can visit any INS today, as he is already preparing to leave (today afternoon). I am not clear on what you mean by getting it to the country that he is travelling to (India). Can you please elaborate?

Basically, he applies for AP and leaves. And one friend of his checks the mail for the approval and then FedEx it to him so that he can use it while he enters US. But if he has a multiple entry AP, I think he is fine. Why don\'t you call INS and ask. Atleast those things are anwered better by IIOs. They really give bullshit replies to status enquiry questions because they do not know what is exactly going on with 485s, EADs etc., But this is a question I think they will be able to answer correctly. Thanks a lot for your reply. I think this solution will work in general, but in this particular case, it will not, as the person has already left his place and is on his way to the airport. So I hope the existing AP will work. But like you said, I will try to call the INS and find out. But THANKS ONCE AGAIN....

Oh! An application can be filed on his behalf for the Advance Parole when he is not in US he will be in India at that time, either you can get the AP here and mail it to him or have teh INS directly mail him the copy of AP to him in India. If you look at the AP application there are four or five check marks for the question of travel usually ( it is applicant is in US needs to travel abroad) is cheked in the same question other option of check marks is ( applicant is abroad and needs AP to reenter US), so the applicant should send in all the supporting docs. including photos etc.. and file it either in local INS office ( his friend perhaps yourself can do that) or VSC ( you know the story of VSC it takes months to get it,, local office is a better solution in that case). When once you get it you send that to your friend in India and he can use that as regular AP.

Thanks a lot. I think I will investigate that option also, before I call up the INS. The only issue might be getting INS approved Photos from India. But I think this suggestion is workable too....

Guys!!! Relax - the existing AP will work. I have used the same AP 3 times last year - but also carried the copy with me, just in case...

Thanks a lot for the info. This helps me a lot, to know that the same AP (set of 3 copies) can be used more than once, presumably for the entire term of validity of the AP.

Yes, you can, as long as it\'s multiple entries. I did it twice, once went back to China, once went to Canada with the same AP. And I know one of my friend used to China and Europe too.
