USCIS screwup?

Mine is a family based 485 application and I filed it in Dec 2006 and had my interview in June 2007 in Saint Louis DO. After the interview, when asked, she informed that namecheck was pending. And, in the interview too, she was very suspicious and mean. She asked me to sit out after 5 minutes of interview and interviewed my wife separately and then called me in and asked the same questions. We had nothing to hide but were not expecting that in the initial interview even though we are married less than 2 years.
Anyway, we decided to write a letter to the First Lady about the namecheck and sent it out in July. Last week, we got a response back from FBI stating that the letter was referred to them and that they received the request from USCIS only on Oct 5th 2007 and they processed and returned it back to USCIS on Oct 14th. I was thankful that it was not namecheck delay but some screwup somewhere. We took an Infopass yesterday and asked about the status and got the standard reply of FBI namecheck and lessons on waiting and patience and then I showed him the letter we got. The officer said that he would forward that letter to the interviewing officer since she had not got any update back. And, asked us to wait for 90-120 days since she has a lot of cases.

Well, I am not asking any specific question but wanted to share my experience. But can I do anything to expedite as the case is now back with USCIS not the FBI(namecheck), may be email the Ombudsman???

Get in touch with the immigration liason resource on your congressman/senator's staff. At times that can do the trick.

Thanks for the reply. I will try that even though I have no faith in them. Last time, I wrote a letter to the senator about namecheck, they didn't even contact the FBI. They sent back a letter saying that they contacted the USCIS office in Saint Louis and it was pending namecheck and that's all they can do.
