my DL did not expire but CA DMV sent me a letter ask me back to DMV provide legal presence Documents. I provide EAD and I 94 a month ago but still haven't received new DL. The normal process time should be in two or three weeks. they took away my DL and gave me a temporary DL permit. I gave them proof of address but they said they don't need!!! I see a GC holder on Reddit at the same boat. very chao now!!!

I was in similar situation provided the same documents to DMV.They told me to call legal presence first, then only I will get my real id. I called the next morning but the legal presence unit told me to call only if I didn’t receive my DL after 30 days. So I waited, meanwhile my dl got issued after 20days (that I checked through requesting drivers record). I got my card through mail on 40th day.
Try checking by requesting through drivers record or call Legal presence.
