USCIS Problems

Well today I wake up to find a lovely message on my answer machine from my DO. The person leaving the message could hardly speak English and it was really difficult to understand what she was talking about.

She said "This is ?Nora? from immigration in Indianapolis and you'll be receiving a cancellation letter in the mail shorty for your interview. Please disregard this letter as it was sent in error, and you should come on the scheduled date"

Well Im abit concerned now, has anyone ever had this happen to them? :(

There are several people over here that had express that they received calls from their DO...I never experienced that but that does not mean that could happen to others of course.

In any case, you have nothing to loose if you show up at the original schedule time from your original interview notice, right?

And let us know how was your interview experience and happy birthday!

Thanks Cherr, Im just worried, when you get this weird call saying its been cancelled. And then in the next breath they say "don't worry", its also abit of a drive to my DO too (about 1.5 hours)

I didn't receive a cancellation notice, but my online status changed to "The interview scheduled for this case has been cancelled. We will inform when it is rescheduled", after I got an interview letter from the USCIS. I also got an email as I had signed up for that on the USCIS website. I tried to do some research on this forum and found out that many people had the same situation, but had successful interviews anyway. So I waited to see if I would get a letter in the mail about the cancellation, but never got one. I went for the interview and talked to the officer about it and he said that the system has been having problems and there were many who got 2 different interview letters which was a problem at the Norfolk, VA office. So if you got a message like this, I would say that you should just go for the interview anyway and see what happens. Alternately, you could try to set up an infopass appointment to find out more about it before the interview. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!

I don't think you have to be concerned. She said it was sent in error, right? You can always call the number and ask to confirm, and maybe keep that message on your answering machine...

Well thanks for the info guys, that put my mind at ease at least. I called the 1800 number and the lady was rude to me (thats a surprise). She stated that there is nothing she can do and its just "probably" a computer glitch. She said to follow the instructions that the officer gave me in the message. I asked if she could just confirm that my interview is still set, and she said they have no contact with the DO's (except to reschedule an interview) thats kinda worrying.

Well I guess Im just going to have to go to the interview on that date and see what happens.

Sorry to hear that is so far away, but just go...there are people who didn't show up and then unfortunately get the letter of denial because they did not show up when they even received information that was wrong.

Good luck!!

Hm, typical. They really should employ people for the service number who had been through the immigration process. Then at least they would be a lot more understanding, if they can't be helpful.

Too bad your DO is so far away, otherwise, if you were still concerned, you could just make an Infopass appointment. But really, they did call to tell you not to worry about the cancellation letter. I have the feeling you can trust them. :)

Yeah, abit better training and the lady at the 1800# would have really made me relax about the whole situation. I guess I'm just worrying over nothing, and thanks to everyone that replied with your words of encouragement. =o)
