USCIS increases fee for nearly all processes including citizenship.

Does it mean that they needs funds for beefing up their strength to process the applications faster? This can also be based on the recent news that USCIS is over-burdened with the number of application and work.

Can this move be any good to us?

To answer an apparently naive question, your guess is as good as mine or anybody else's.

20% reduction in processing time

The stated goal is to reduce processing time by 20% by fall of 2009.
Hence, if your date becomes current in 2010 and you are not stuck in some namecheck-like meander you will have to wait less.

alexberg,

Their goal is noble but without additional visa numbers and continued severe retrogression, the efficiency will keep improving irrespective of fee hikes. A majority of filers are not eligible for approval and a greater number aren't even allowed to apply for Adjustment Of Status. This fee hike will hopefully make the process more efficient for the limited categories that are lucky to be current.

cheers,

saras
