USCIS fee increases effective July 30, 2007

What a bl--dy cheek, $1010 for an I 485, this is a disgrace. Every time the fees go up the uscis say its to employ more staff and reduce backloggs,

Sorry but this is bulls--t

wow, the fees are ridculous..they've more than doubled.
The average cost for a typical application now is $355(I-130) + $1010(I-485) + $340(EAD) + $305 (AP) = between $1365 and $2010

No surprise here.
12 million people are about to run to the immigration offices. They need more funds. And we pay for it, as usual.

At least my damage will be limited to an I-751 and N-400...

I wonder how do they justify this... from $ 325 to $ 1010...

I will have to file I-751 in 2 years... hopefully prices won't rise again until then...

It seems the cost of the I-485 application includes EAD and AP.

The Q&A on the USCIS website says, "Those who file an adjustment of status application (Form I-485) after the new fee schedule is effective will not have to pay the additional fees for employment and travel authorization as these costs have been included in the new adjustment of status application fee."

So the overall cost isn't much more IF you want the EAD and AP anyway. But, if you don't want them then you're paying for nothing.

You are pretty much always paying for nothing. Because is most cases. You get your GC before you get a travel document or employment authorization document.

If you were a govt official would you design a system like that also? That just rips people of their money? I would. After all immigration is a privilege ;)

Screw USCIS and fee increase...

Hi:

This fee increase is just pure bull and nonsense. When has the increase in filing fees improved the quality of service with USCIS? Even if they make a greencard application $2950, you will still have to wait for a year to get the darn thing, because all you get from USCIS is just crap.....

When you spend $800 on any service, then it better be darn good, because that money you didn't pull it from your grandma's ass, but your sweat from working your balls off.

I agree, if you file for I-485, then why the hell are you paying for EAD and AP if you don't need them? Basically, USCIS has decided to rape people off their money, because can you go to a restuarant and eat a salad, but they manager tells you since everyone eats soup and salad, he's going to charge for the soup, because everyone can eat the soup.. The will be riot....;)

This is basically an attempt to curb legal immigration, and increase illegal immigrants who have no need for documentation, because if you can do the work that I do without the papers, then why the hell you need to go through a broken immigration system?

Screw USCIS and all who support this fee increase... it is unwarranted and it is not going to improve the quality of service at all.... it is going to become worse....
