usage of AP

I am currently working on my EAD and also have an AP
I travelled outside the US and returned back. I received a new I94.
Should I have used the AP document? If so , what can I do to rectify the mistake?

Go to a POE and get a new I94 based on AP now. (drive to niagara@canada and drive back ...)
