My brother has applied visit visa for our parents 2 years ago. My mother got the visa stamped in her passport in 3 months but they kept my fathers passport for administrative processing. It has been 2 years now and every time we call them or email them, they say that they are in contact with their office in Washington DC but nothing can be done to expedite.
My brother can also apply for my father's green card but he has been holding off on that thinking once he get his visit visa, he can come to US and then green card processing time is only few months as compared to years.
We are under the impression that as soon as greencard application is filed, his visit visa application may be denied. But I am thinking now that he has already been interviewed for visit visa, so he won't be questioned again that has he ever applied for US immigration. Traditionally once the administrative processing is done, he normally get called to pick up his passport. So may be greencard application may not cancel his visit visa application. Any thoughts...
