My sister got her US visa on her expired Indian passport and she got a new passport recently ..
Are there any issues with coming to the US by showing both together?

some people told her she needs some endorsement of the US visa in the new passport by the Indian passport office . But they never gave any endorsement when she got her new passport ..even though she had mentioned she had a US visa.

If anyone has any idea or made any trips recently ..pls let me know..thanks !!

she can travel safely using both passports.

Indian passport office has no jurisdiction on US visa hence cannot endorse it.

update

Thanks for your replies. I thought so too that Indian office doesn't have any jurisdiction over US visa. And US embassy is fine with just showing old and new passport.

BUT - my sis got her new Indian passport only few days back and this is some new rule..she was told by the travel agent to go back and get it done from Indian office..they insisted so she went back.
I guess the Indian office puts a stamp on your new passport ( if you have a US/UK visa in old one ) ..that just says the visa is on your old passport.

I guess they should have done it at the time of issuing new passport , ..but they didnt..so she had to go back and get it done.
( they give some pamphlet with new passport that mentions that this has to be done )

anyway. just thought I would mention this in case anyone runs into same situation. Of course, I don't know the problems it would have caused ( if any ) , if she had not done it

I can't comment about the need for notation when stapling two Indian passport booklets. When I just held Pakistani citizenship and hadn't migrated to NA, I had three booklets stapled together because I travelled a lot. There was a time when two booklets were completely full but had valid UK, US, Canadian and Schengen visas. The Pakistani consulate stamped the observations page on my third (and newest) booklet with a notation "Older booklets attached as bearing valid visas". I never had any issues travelling on that three booklet passport.
