US spouse with previous arrest question

Hello,
I will be marrying my girlfriend soon, she's US citizen, and I'm from Mexico. I don't have a criminal record anywhere, but she unfortunately does, even though she was innocent but went to jail for a few months. I know it could be a problem if I had a record, but what about if she does, will the green card process make it more difficult for us? We're nervous about proceeding with the application process if this could get her or both of us in trouble.
Thank you.

If she was not convicted, you'll have no problem as far as her arrest and jail time are concerned.

What do you mean by "if she was not convicted" though? I guess I'm not very good with legal concepts. On the other hand if she was convicted what could the problems be? It was actually a customs issue she was suspected when coming back to the US a long time ago and held in prison but later released. They were biased because of her last name and she was traveling back from the Middle East.
Thank you.
