US immigration stamp in Passport

Hello all,

After getting a GC, will US immigration still stamp your passport with a re-entry date after traveling outside US, as they do if you travel outside US while on an F1 visa?

Thanks.

Each time I returned from India while on a green card, the CBP agent stamped my passport, and wrote "3 weeks" (or similar) next to the stamp. However they are very inconsistent while travelling between USA and Canada. On the road border they just glance at the GC and let you pass most of the time. At the airport they stamp your passport occassionaly, and will just scan the GC.

If you are thinking about naturalization, you should try and maintain a record of all your travel dates in and out of the US and you will need to provide the dates in your N400 application.

Also, missing date stamps on your passport should not encourage you to mis-state your days outside the country. That is very risky.

Tnx for the answers. No intention to mis-state. Just realized while filling out N-400, there were no re-entry date stamps in my passport. Just wanted to ask, I couldn't remember if they scanned the GC or what.

My husband, while still a green card holder, entered the US after a trip overseas and his passport wasn't stamped at LAX. Apparently, they don't do this consistently. We thought at the time it might be an issue when he applied for citizenship, but it wasn't. He's a citizen now.

I kept an excel document detailing my trips for both my Canadian and US naturalisation processes. Why rely on others.
