I landed in canada as immigrant in SEPT 2000. I was on h1 @ that time. I stayed there for couple of days. Applied for sin card and came to usa. I got the sin at my firends place and he mail it to me.

Mean while i got my US green card in feb'2003.

I visited Canada in sep 2003 and applied for PR card and drivers license..I got a letter in jan 15 2004 saying i can come and pick up the card.

I visited canada this month to pick PR card. They looked @ all my documents. passport, landing paper. SIN and asked for health card( which i didn't have.. i told that my health card expired and i have to apply) mean while she turned my passport pages and saw US immigration stamp. and start asking questiong about my us immigration like
'Do you stay in US'
'How are you maintining two residency'
and took copies all my pages of passport and said that they will send a apoinment letter to me for interview for PR card.

Next day i went and applied Health card and Citizenship.

My questions
1) Did i do right thing by applying citizepship
2) will they reject my residency
3) if they reject my PR card will it affect my citizepship application.

1) You are not eligible for PR card as you have lost your canadian residency

2) why on earth would you apply for canadian citizenship. Did u not read the qualifications that you have to be a PR for 3 out of 4 years and stay in canada .

One point I missed , if you have a PR card after US GC you "may" have a problem when you apply for US citizenship .

---- it is wrong, you need to be IN canada for 1095 days to qualify for Canada citizenship, what ID you attached? Driving licence or.... They need copy of DL, or PR card or Helth card
2) will they reject my residency
---YES, becase you did not stay in Canada and when you landed in 2000 the rule was to remain out of Canada less than 183 days, it changed after June 28, 2002 and the person who landed afre that date can be out of Canada 3 years in any 5 years to maintain Canada residency
3) if they reject my PR card will it affect my citizepship application.
---- I think they will reject both PR card and Citizenship.

---- you will not find any problem with US citizenship, they are not intresed in finding your Canada PR card and as you were landed immigrant of Canada before you got US GC, no problem for you, just follow the rules of US citizenship(5 years stay in US)

The only reason I put it there is that If during background checks in US for the citizenship , they find out that you were denied residency and citizenship of canada that you applied after getting your US GC , It would be difficult to prove intent to stay in US .

Your eauation could be as simple as no problem for US Citizenship or big problems depending upon what they find in background checks and what they ask in the US citizenship application. I hope you are not going to "lie" there .

As far as canada is concerned , you are not PR or citizen .
