US Entry stamp in passport

Hi,

Does anyone know how important is US entry stamp in passport ? At the port of entry in my son\'s passport the Immigration Officer forgot to put the US entry stamp (which is usually in oval shape in red color). But he has his I-94 properly filled and stamped. Will it cause any problem ? Any one with same problem ? My attorney says it is unusual. He is going to file our I-485 this week. Will this cause any problem ?

I sincerely appreciate for any responses to this discussion.

I think you shouldn\'t worry about it...any mistakes like the one you have can be corrected at the local INS office.....goto nearby INS office and let them know and they will correct

The only important thing is the I-94 card.

Nobody (except yourself) will examine the stamps in your passport.
The only function I can imagine of the stamp in passport is:
in case you lose your I-94, it may serve as an evidence of legal entry.

Actually the INS has all the records of your entries and departures.
But once they messed up, you can use the I-94 and stamp in PP to prove your innocence.

Thanx kallumama and SC708 for your replies. I was really worried. So I assume when my attorney files our I-485 there should not be any problem.
