I will be coming back to USA Port of entry Detroit.
I need to purchase some of medicines for my neighbors.

Medicines are basically some day to day one & some anti biotics.

1) In a US customs do they object medicines?
2) Do I need to carry prescriptions with me?
3) Do I need to carry receipts with me?

Thanks,
freenation.

You are in the wrong forum.
Obviously medicines is a emotional subject. Yes you better have a letter from a govt. registered doctor that these medicines are required.
Moreover, with these medicines, you need to prove that you have general health insurance...
Generally, visitors take the tablets from the company cover and put it in an airtight container with label (you know how the tablets are doled out in US)...
If they are herbal medicines, you can claim those to be herbal /alternative medicines and customs cannot prevent their entry...
If the medicines are allopathic, a letter and a letter proving that the generic eqquivalent is approved by FDA might be required...

If the visitors are old, generally the POE inspectors/custom officers dont bother about what is claimed to be medicines....

Documentation helps people in US...
