Once we get the naturalization certificate - can somebody tell me what are the next steps to obtain a US passport? What are the documents required for that? What forms needs to be fiiled? Where can we apply for the passport to get the fastest return?

Generally you apply for a passport at a post office. You'll need your original natz cert (make copy first), your drivers license, two photos and a check or money order for the appropriate fee. For regular service, expect 6-8 week turnaround, and for expedited service, its about 2 weeks.

For the absolute fastest service, you'll need to go in person to one of the 12 regional passport agencies (13 if you count Hawaii). The only catch is that you must have confirmed imminent travel reservations (i.e. 2-3 weeks out) and you need to make an appointment in advance.

You also need SSN to apply for a passport. They may require original card, so take it. Some post offices accept debit cards (no credit cards) to pay for passport.

Go to http://travel.state.gov and follow the instructions. I had my pictures and had filled in the form before my natz ceremony. I stopped at a post office on the way home.

Before I was naturalized I also asked at the post office what their local procedures were.

It is *much* easier that getting a natz cert

Now it is taking around 10 weeks for passport. My husband applied on feb 12, still didn't get passport.

Can we tell them any immigration issues for that we need passport ASAP. I need passport send to India for my husband application get approve as Immediate relative category.
