I have applied for US Citizen, I am self employed and for the past 2 years I haven't run payroll due to business loss. will there be a problem in my citizenship due to no payroll or W2 for the past 2 years? immigration gurus please suggest.

apskumar,

What does US Citizenship gotta do with your job? Even if you are not working and unemployed, you are still eligible to apply for US Citizenship. As long as you have filed taxes with IRS on time and been a good boy with good moral character, no hanky panky in your life. You are good to go.
Problem solved :D

At my interview, the IO specifically mentioned that they usually ask for copies of tax returns from self-employed applicants. Make sure that you have copies of tax returns for the past 5 years when you attend your interview.

so what I understand is Tax return (individual and corporate) should be ok, am I correct?

USCIS is only interested in personal taxes. Since your company has incurred losses for a few years, it would have affected your personal income. So take both personal and corporate tax returns - just in case IO looks for a justification for your personal income. Was your GC employment based? If so, did you work for the sponsoring company after becoming LPR?

The sponsoring company was closed, in couple of months I got GC. will that be problem?
Closed a couple months after your GC was approved, or a couple months before? If they closed before your GC and you did not obtain another "same or similar" job according to AC21 before GC approval, your GC can be revoked.

On the other hand, if the company was closed 2 months after the OP got his GC, he will likely not have any problems in the interview.

Some don't have to file tax returns because they make less than 10k a year and USCIS only want you no due to IRS. But better to have tax returns even if you make less than 10k.

I mean the company that sponsored my GC, was closed in 1-2 months after I got my GC. so I was not working for them on post GC

No issues. It is not your fault. You will be fine. Nothing to worry about. Good luck! :) Many people, who got their gc before their company were closed or acquired or merged, got their citizenship.
