hello there i was wondering what the fastest way was for me to bring my wife here to the usa.

I am a us citizen. We will be getting married June 26. The full wedding will be in september in Canada. After we get married in june 26 we were going to get a marriage certificate for the paperwork processing of
permanent residency.

She also wants to work here after june 26. Can she live here in the states with me and work while her permanent residency paperwork is being processed?

her friend told her she has to reside in canada otherwise if she is in the states she may not leave or her paperwork will get messed up for permanent residency. is this correct?

Please advise me of the quickest and most efficient way we may complete the paperwork. Thanks so much

She is in Canada right now. We will be getting married and marriage certificate in late June. The bigger ceremony will be in canada in september. So pretty much I'd like to put the permanent residency paperwork in late june after we get married but was wondering if she could come see me (visit) during this paperwork for permanent residency...also can she apply for a work permit now? Maybe she will move here (or go back to visit every few months) until her permanent residency gets approved

Thanks for your help.

When you are married you will be able to apply for a CR1 spousal visa for her. This takes approximately 8-12 months. During this time she 'can' 'visit' you in the US (note...she can 'not' live there). She will be required to attend an interview at an embassy/consulate in Canada toward the end of this process. If the interview is successful and she gets the CR1 visa in hand, when she re-enters the US she will automatically become a permanent resident and will be able to work immediately.

Are you open to having your civil ceremony in the US? K-1 might be an option but timeline may be tight. September is only 3 months away.

I could go to city hall i guess in the usa?

Could she apply for i-765 (EAD) to work in the usa while her perm residency papers are being processed? How long does this take?

Is the CR1 visa the same as filling the i-129f form?

Can she apply for a work permit too?

So should I fill the i-129F form and then wait the 8-12 months? She can visit me while it is being processed during the 8-12 months for no longer than 6 month increments? Also she cannot apply for a work permit? Like an EAD to work here during the 8-12 month wait?

Thanks a lot to everyone for helping me

Ok I did some more research but can someone please just clear up a few more things for me.

Please tell me if the following are accurate statements:

I should fill out the I-130 as soon as I get the marriage certificate along with the G-325A and G-325. It will take about 8-12 months for her to get permanent residency. During this period she may visit me in the states for no more than a 6 months total interval.

Also, can she apply for an EAD (i-765) to work in the usa while her permanent residency papers are being processed? How long does this take? Will she be allowed to enter the USA while this paperwork is being processed? Thanks so much.
