us citizen marries and ilegal alien, what steps are needed for ilegal to get a workers permit and SS? and citizenship for ilegal.
 
the USC will need to file an Adjustment of Status (AOS) and Petition for Alien Relative (I-485 and I-130). in addition, you need to file for Employment Authorization (I-765). the Employment Authorization or EAD is used to get authorization to work while I-485 is pending, much like a work permit. spouse will then be eligible to file for citizenship after 3 years of marriage to the USC.
 
do i need to see an attorney? or i can just fill out paper work and mail it.
