US Citizen and relative sponsoring advice

Hi,

My friend just got his US Citizenship and his Mom already out of status. Could anyone pease advise what procedure to sponsor for GC? or it's better to do everything through the lawyer? Any penalties will be applied? Thank you!
 
Search this sub-forum. All the information needed by your friend to sponsor his mother for a GC is available. I am assuming the mother was inspected when she entered the US and then she overstayed.
