I was approved for my H1B on December 1 and got my visa stamped on December 21. I am planning to go back to the US in the next week or two even though I just got laid off from the company who sponsored me the H1B. I don't think the company is going to notify USCIS that they have let me go because they are too busy with everything else that's going on. So I can legally enter the US with my current visa right? Because the company still owes me a paycheck. So I was thinking, would I be able to apply to a school and transfer my H1B to F1? And if so, how soon would I need to do that? Would not having a paycheck in the months between be a problem when USCIS determines whether to issue me a F1??? If that is a problem, would asking my company to stretch out that one paycheck they owe me over several months help the situation?? Please if someone has had similar experiences or know what I should do, help me!!! I am really desperate. I bought my return ticket and signed a lease for an apartment before I got laid off so I kinda have to go back to the States.
