URGENT: work before getting SSN?

Hi!
I'm still on H4, but got my iEAD.
I've received a part time job offer.
Can I start working before getting the SSN? I've heard it takes between 4 and 8 weeks now to get the SSN.

Some employers accept the receipt showing that you have applied for SSN. Since you have work authorization (iEAD), you are legally allowed to work. Ask your employer whether you can start working after applying for SSN.
 
You can apply for SSN and get the number quickly by calling a 800 number they provide. I think you can call after 3 days and get it.
 
they do not give SSN over phone any more

The receipt from SSA showing that you have applied for SSN
is good enough to work. See here link
 
iEAD

My wife has a job offer now but did not apply for EAD ,can she
apply iEAD to start immediately or she has to wait 90 days to
apply for iEAD..

any advice ?

No EAD/iEAD ( physical card ) in hand no work period. Apply for EAD wait for 90 days then go get iEAD and start working. You can work now but without paper work means illegal unless you get physical card .

She has to wait until she gets the card (either provisional or iEAD).
