Urgent, Urgent: Senate Action Update 6:00 p.m. EST

Senate did not have roll call for this bill today and this bill will be picked up at 9:00 a.m. on the full Senate floor tomorrow morning. Anti-immigration forces are adding pressures to the Senators, and so should the pro-immigration forces. Please contact businesses and urge them to contact via e-mails and phone calls tonight!!! The bill number is S. 1932 and immigration packets are in Title VIII, Section 8001. Please, please, everyone should do something tonight. Businesses in the West Coast, you are still in office hours, 4:00 p.m. PST, and contact your Senators and Congressional delegations before you leave the office!!!!

I sent these messages to all senators/reps in my state. I also sent it to the senators/reps in all the states I previously lived (it automatically picks the receipients responsible for your constituency based on the address, so if you have multiple addresses, please use all of them).

Hon. Senetor/House Representative,

I request you to please support the immigration relief provisions included
in the budget reconciliation bill (S. 1932) being voted in Senate
currently.

These immigration releif proposals are urgently needed not only by the
immigrant community, but also by the US businesses. These provisions give
relief to the people who are working in the US for past several years, not
for any new immigrants. As such, there is nothing here which will result
in losing jobs for American workers. The immigrant community who will
benefit from these provision are the people who are already supporting the
lifeline of the American IT industry - the highly qualified, tax paying,
law abiding professionals. Most of them are waiting for the immigration
process to be completed for several years. The current crisis due to the
retrogression of the visas is solely due to a broken immigration system,
not over-immigration.

The American Industry stands to lose the experienced professionals who are
absolutely critical to maintaining their systems, if the relief
provisions are not given soon enough. Again, there is nothing in this
proposal which will lose american jobs, on the other hand, it is a
proposal which is so vital to the American IT industry to survive.

I again request your support for including these provisions in
the reconciliation bill.

Thank you verymuch,

Most respectfully,

I did my part too.

Don't sit and read messages- this is the time for action. Contact Your US Senator!!

Send this letter to your Senators Immediately!! I sent it earlier today, you should do now...

Say NO to Senator Byrd’s Amendment to S.1932 (section 8001)

This amendment reverses action already taken by the Senate Judiciary Committee to increase revenue by recapturing authorized, but never used, visa numbers for foreign workers with key skills in jobs for which U.S. workers are not available. This is a very simplistic, but myopic and ill-advised step!!

Please vote NO when this amendment comes up for consideration. If not, the Senate will lose the opportunity to raise significant revenue by allowing the use of visas that were authorized by Congress, but never used due to administrative delays.

If relief is not provided to skilled, legal immigrants like myself, our future will continue to be plagued by uncertainty for many years to come.

Such delays are causing great hardship to tax- paying, law-abiding, skilled immigrants many of whom have US Citizen children, both large and small American employers and entrepreneurs, and a potential loss of talent and billions of dollars of revenues to American businesses and the economy at large.

There are estimated to be about 300,000-400,000 people affected by the current EB (Employment Based) backlog. These people contribute an estimated $15-20 billion to the US economy (atleast $5 billion in direct taxes plus other direct/indirect receipts).

me too !! I called up and left messages for all senators !! and also wrote to all senators. Bastards - They need immigrant population to work and pay their social security. But dont want to give us any benefit. Well if thats what they they thnk then I am gonna take my nice bank balance and go and settle in canada !!

Gawd...how the hell did this Byrd guy manage to sneak in this at the last minute? Democrats seem to be of no help at this time. I am calling Senate and leaving messages. Evryone else please do the same.
