Hi,

What is the best method to apply after getting US Citizenship to go quickly to India and stay for long periond of time (2-3yrs)? How long I can stay in India with Visa or PIO card? And what are the processing times for OH?

I would really appreciate your reply.

Thanks.

Well, to go for that long, you'll have to apply for OCI immediately after you get your passport. It'll take about a month, I'm told.

How quickly is "quickly"? If you want to go this weekend, you have no way but to get a tourist visa and then apply for OCI/PIO after you reach India.
if you have 3-6 weeks, then you can get OCI before you go.
Check this forum for information on processing times for the Indian consulate with OH jurisdiction.

You can try taking entry visa if you are of indian origin. From what I understand, tourist visa will not allow you to stay for more than 6 months while with entry visa you can stay for the duration of the visa. OCI is also a good alternative though if you intend to work

What is entry Visa?

No, he cannot. He will be asked to provide a copy of the visa used to enter India, which he will not have!

Get an entry or tourist visa, the shortest one possible, and apply for OCI there.
