Company not doing well so probable layoff soon. Is it possible to apply for Canada PR in US and continue in India by having consulate transfer case? My H-1B in US expires in Jan 2002 so I have to leave country. I would like to get this process going asap. What is required to apply for PR? Anything they ask that is difficult to provide? Your assistance is very much appreciated.

URGENT! Starting Canada PR in US and continuing in India

If you are applying in From US then better keep the address of Some fiend in US and send all the documents like FBI clearence in Advance with your application to Buffaloo.Keep Bank account in US, but if you want to file in US and later you want to TRANSFER your File to DELHI India then it is not better option because if you transfer your file it will start from the begning and the time it remained in US that time will be wasted. IF you want to file in US then you have to attend the Interview in US and for that you will need US visa to visit US and in future Visa is going to be difficult. You know your position better in India it will take 16-32 months and new law Bill C-11 will be implimented. you can submit your file to any consulate in the world, if you are going to India you can choose applying in London or Singpore also if you feel that US Visa will be problem for you.

Just submitted my canadian medical Sept 2001 expecting visa by end of year. Fortunately my Labor in US got cleared and so did my I-140 in last 2 months. I-140 started (EB3 Regular que) Sept 14th 2001 - Approved Oct 31 2001. Ready to file for I-1485 - so will ask for refund of Canadian ROLF after I get my Canadian Visa - such is the plan so far.
Tips for You
IT folks in US don\'t get asked for an interview when applying for Canadian PR. I did not have to attend any interview for the Canadian process so keeping bank and friends address in US may work for you when applying for Canadian PR. - Take a chance.
Option 2, Apply for Canadian Work Visa, there are expediated queue\'s for IT Professionals. You will need to find a job / company to sponsor it - just like H1. Once in Canada on work permit, you can continue to file for your canadian PR from in there.

Do you have any info about timeframe between Police certificate and
asking for medicals to be done.
Bascically how much time will it take between submitting the police certificate and finalizing the canadian PR. Also if one is given the canadian PR, by what time should one claim it?
Also curious which INS for your I-140?
