Hi CP gurus,
Mine is AC140 case. the I-140 was approved las august and I have interview next thursday in mumbai. Till to date, I haven\'t seen my I-140 approval notice. I requested my attorney to send me a copy and she says that she needs a written authorization to send me one. IS this normal? Whay can\'t I have a copy of my own 140 approval notice?
DO I NEED TO CARRY IT WITH ME?
I appreciate your quick response!
Thanks!

No Title

It looks like those @#$% notice of action (similar to H1B approval) but it clearly say I140.

Good idea to take a copy with you.

Not sure, but I think not absolutely required to have it. It should have been sent as part of AC I140 Packet 3. A copy (as opposed to original) cannot prove anything.

Your company lawyer is more concerned about the benefit of his bills\' payer, namely your employer, than following his profession\'s etiquette.

The attorney sent the original I-140 approval notice to the consulate alongwith the AC140 papers

My question is, why doesn\'t the attorney give me a copy? She says that she needs a written authorization from the company before she can send a copy to me.

Getting a courtesey Copy of 140 approval is common

My attorney gave it to me without asking.
Some employers want to flex their muscles and want no docs to be given to the employees.
In any case it is part of your P3 that was sent. It would be good to have it but if you do not have it than It should not be an issue. Since the case is with the Consulate it means 140 has been approved.

best wishes for the interview

When i asked my attorney for the I140 approval notice they said that they need authorisation from my company inorder to give one. so i spoke with the person incharge in my company and they sent an email and then my attorney gave copies of all the docs(i140, labor approval etc). Some big legal firms do this sometimes. Just get the authorisation from your company and they will agree to that.

Hope this helps

Thanks Sujata and others!

Thanks for your messages. I will talk to my HR folks and have them send email to my attorney. I was not sure why my attorney was acting like that. Its good to know other people have also faced this kind of situation.
