urgent question on employment status, pls help

Hi guys.

My company's lawyer applied for a renewal of my ead last year and it got appoved. However, the card got lost in mail so the lawyer applied for a replacement of the lost ead card. to make things worse, the application for replacement got rejected since the lawyer forgot to sign the payment check.

Now my question is whether I am fine to continue to work? Note I still have the approval notice of the lost card. It will expire soon.

BTW, am i still on H1b? Company asked me to fill out a I-9 last year right after I got my 1st EAD card.

Card is not important. The approval notice is.
Once use EAD, you are not in H1B status any more.

u r not on H1B status anymore after using ead.

u can renew ead only if you have atleast copies of lost ead.

Thanks fgs. I have never seen the lost ead card since it got lost in mail when uscis sent to me.

So you mean I cannot apply for a renewal of the lost-card based on the approval notice? If yes, i am afraid i'll have to apply for a brand new one.
