Urgent question for those who've had their biometrics taken-PLEASE HELP:(

Hi guys, I am in a bit of trouble here. I am scheduled to go for my biometrics appointment in a few days. The problem is my passport expired and the embassy says that they will not issue a new one unless I submit a copy of the Green Card or the approval letter. Obviously I don't have either so they won't renew my passport. I don't know what to do. Has anyone here used an expired passport, has it worked?

This is very strange. Passport renewal doesn't have anything to do with GC or approval letter. Do you maintain a legal status in US? Which country are you from? Your country's embassy can't deny you a renewal of passport if you are legally present here and you are Citizen of that country.
 
No need to have Passport , you can go with any other identification card.

Drivers license will be enough !

Keep passport as secondary , if they insists you can show ~!
 
Take your State issued Photo ID; thats enough for your Biometrics; I just did my Biometrics today, they never asked my PP.

your DL or EAD is good enough, try visiting local ASC even before appointment date. I was schedules for FP on June 27th but went the next day when I got the letter and got my FP done.
 
All my previous bio appts, I've only ever taken my DL and have never been asked to show anything else.
