Urgent question about H4

I am on H1 and my H1 expires this month. I will be going to India to get my extension stamping and also I will be getting married at the same time.
I will be going to the Mumbai consulate for my extension stamping and later on my wife will go for her H4.
The question I have is,
1) I have only one employment verification letter. After my extension is stamped, will the letter be retained at the consulate or returned back to me.
2) If it is retained by the consulate, do I need another original employment verification letter for my wife's H4 again?

I would really appreciate if I get this info at the earliest!!

------- it seems your H1B stamp expires this month and you have filed H1 extension and got H1 extension approved from USCIS, if that is true read below

------- you can only go for H1 Visa stamp if you have H1extension approval with you

If you going to get married, why don't both of you apply for a visa at the same time ?
That might be a lot easier than doing it separately.
