Hello All,

I have just got H1 Visa last Friday and i am yet to receive the passport.
My wife would be going for stamping this week . I am enquiring the below details for form filling.

For filling DS-156 form the question 28 :
Who Will Pay For Your Trip?:

A: Should i have to give the Company Name or should it be Husbands Name. I just wanted to know how it is usually done.

My wife is not working. So for the question 21 :
Present Occupation (If retired, write "retired". If student, write "student".):

A: Should she write "Not Applicable" or say something like "House Wife".

Also in usconsulate site it is given as for H4 Visa -

Submit an original or notarized photocopy of your valid Form I-797 and Form I-129S.

I have read postings that for H4 Visa we need to give Copies of Form I-797 and Form I-129S.
Now my question is it better to take original or notarized photocopy of your valid Form I-797 and Form I-129S or would it be sufficient iof we just take a Copy.

Please clarify the above at the earliest.

Also does my wife also need to take my Bank statements, Pay Slips, Work Experience Letters, etc.,

Can some one please clarify.

Regards,
Vishy.

A: If you are still there, you can send I-797 and I-129 along with your wife.

Also does my wife also need to take my Bank statements, Pay Slips, Work Experience Letters, etc.,

A: Send bank statements, pay slips and experience letters but no use.

Hi,
According to me its better you should join your US employer and work for atleast 1-2 months. This way you'll have 1-2 paystubs and then you can send other papers like w2, paystubs, 1040 etc which your employer will help you to get through.

Why I am saying this is becuase if in case you didnt took your wife along with you to ur interview, then it might create a doubt in their mind. So why to take a risk. better wait for 1-2 months and then be on safer end.

Still if you want to give it a shot, then give your complete I-129, LCA, Original I-797 to your wife as consulate will definitely require these docs. Also to avoid risk see newdelhi.usembassy.gov and browse for docs required for H visas. Give her all those docs.

once your wife attends interview plz post the views here so that others may also benefit with this. BTW, when is her appointment date?? & which embassy

hello

Hello All,

Thanks for your replies. My wife got the visa. Interview lasted just 2-3 minutes.

My views for Kapoors reply is...its best if both could go simultaneously for the consulate interview. But due to some reason if you cannot go..it would be best to go in short durations. Because in that case you can take your spouse along with you or in just a month of your travel to US.

Also its not a good idea to wait for pay stubs,W2 forms, etc. Very few people get jobs immediately after reaching US. Than if you are in bench it would be even more problematic. Hope this helps.

Hello

Thanks Infowanted for your reply.
I got my H1 stamped couple of weeks ago, and now I need to apply H4 for my wife.
While filling up form DS-156, my wife had a query in one question, stating:
"Are Any of the Following Person in The U.S., or Do they Have Legal Permanent Residence or U.S. Citizen?
Mark Yes or No and indicate that person's status in U.S."

My question is: I have H1 but currently in India, will be travelling later, what should she mention:
Should she give my name and Staus as H1
Or she will mark No.

Regards,
Abhijit
