URGENT: Queries related to trf of H1B visa to Visotor's Visa (B1/B2)

I have some queries for transfer of H1B visa to Visitor's (B1/B2). Would appreciate if anyone can help me with these.

1. My H1B is expiring on April 30th. Is it too late to get visitor's visa.

2. If I get visitor's visa, does that mean that I lose my H1B visa status? Can a person hold H1B & B1/B2 (visitor's visa) at the same time ?

3. Any idea on how much time does it take to get visitor's visa?

4. Do you know where I have to send the paper work for this and what are the documents that I need to send?

I would really appreciate if some one can answer my queries at the earliest. It's SOS !!

do you mean B1/B2 status ?

1) If you file for a I-539 ( change of non immigrant status ) before your current H1 status I-94 gets expired or before you leave your job..you can get B1/B2 status.

2) No you cant hold 2 non immigrant status at the same time.

3) You have to send it to the service center that is responsible for your area. CSC if you are in calif. , arizona, etc.

Once you get your B1/B2 approval make sure that it has a I-94 with B1/B2 status attached to it...now you can use this to get a visa to re-enter the USA if you decide to travel.

What If I file an application for change of status to B2 (Visitor's visa) and then before I get a notice approving/denying my application, I leave the country. Can that cause any problem while leaving US or coming to the US in future ???
