I am currently working for a university with an exempt-h1B . I have a non-exempt H1-B approval from a consultancy which has a start date in december, 2006 (6 months ago). I am planning to transfer to that H1B soon (as soon as I get a job through them). My question is, is there a set max length of time (from the start date on approval notice) an H1B can be kept vacant i.e not starting on payroll?
Please advise me on this at your earliest convenience. I don't want to go out of status when I transfer to the non-exempt H1b and at the same time I would set myself a deadline to transfer before it gets cancelled or voided.
