Urgent,pls respond....!!!!

One of our friend\'s lost all the important documents including Passport/485 related docs etc. during transit withing India, but copies of all these documents are available.
So, can somebody please suggest what are the steps to be taken (other than lodging a complaint/ approaching Company\'s H.R. dept.)to avoid further hassles,so things can be sorted out at an earliest.
Your replies/inputs are highly appreciated.

First step...is inside....

Contact his/her lawyer immidiately. Dont waste time waiting for any reply here. It is possible to obtain duplicate copies from INS. I have no specific answer how to obtain that but lawyer will be best option. And it will all depend in what stage of I485 your friend was.

Dont mean to add more misery ...but how is he going to come back without a

valid passport and H1 Stamp or AP document.... ?
He needs to first get a Passport and at the same time ask his lawyer
in the US to apply for a duplicate AP/I-485/EAD.

The Passport takes about atleast 2-4 Weeks if you can throw money
and have good contacts in India.. otherwise you know how it works there..

Since this is a time consuming process, the best thing to do for your
friend is to call his immediate Boss and explain the scenario and ask
for time and maybe ask him to deal with HR.
