hi, i cleared my cp on 20th. my 5 yrs kid has thumb print on her passport. Medical @ hinduja they insist to have thumb print but for ds230 PI/II I signed behalf of her and mentioned father's sign. So, to answer yr question you can sign. Do not worry about all this since if any error or any change needed @ consulate they would ask you to correct on same ds230. My exp. says that they r very co-op. Goodluck
