Urgent, Please Help!!!!!!!!

My Current EAD is expiring on Sept 5th, 2003. I applied for a EAD renewal on June 5th, 2003, I was planning on going to Chicago local INS on Sept 4th as it is 91st day from receipt date.

Yesterday I checked the online status and got the below message:

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status:

On August 26, 2003, after approving your application, we ordered a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have never seen anyone put out this message before. Could someone advice me if I can continue working from Sept 5th or should I go to the Chicago INS and get a iEAD. I don't know what to do.

Does anyone also know how long it takes to get the card after such message. Also does this message change when they mail the card...Please advice....

It happened to me also. We are sailing in the same boat. I also got the same message initially, But after 3 days my message changed to "This case has been approved. On August 27, 2003, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address." This is a normal process. I should get my approval in 2 or 3 days. So hang on for couple of days and keep checking the online message. As far as I think, You are FINE. Don't worry...

I had the same message as well.

That message means that your EAD is approved. I am not working on EAD (continue to work for the sponsoring employer on H1-B), however, logically thinking, I do believe that one can continue to work based on this approval and await receipt of the card.

After the message, my card arrived in 10 days time.

Please consult with your attorney and / or your employer. They may have more to add.

This is simple. And it means your case is approved so don't panic
you would get your card in coupld of days in mail

Since your case is no more pending (the decision has been made), lcoal office will not issue an interim EAD.

Now all you can do is the hardest thing to do...WAIT..
 
Do I need the card in hand to continue on Sept 5th

Do I need to have the card in hand to continue to work on Sept 5th, 2003. Do I need to inform my current employer about this. My current empolyer has not asked me anything about this. So is it my responsibility to tell them about my current situation. My employer is a large consulting company and they may not tolerate any non-sense.

Is the card in hand important to continue.

Very Important. Do I need to fill another I-9 form and give to the employer...

Please Advice
 
Here is what I would do ..

.. in your situation ....

I would tell my employer the exact current status.. that your EAD has expired and that your approval has been done.. and that you are waiting for the receipt of the new EAD however..

that being said.. please note, the card will have he validity starting from the date of approvel which is certinaly much earlier than its expiry date in your case...


As others have said.. there is no need to worry ... just sit tight and wait...
 
Yes you need to fill another I-9 form and give to the employer, if the form you submitted previously says that your EAD expires 9/5/2003, but if you don't, your employer would be responsible, not you.

Its employer's responsibility to keep updated I-9's in their record.

Does it means receipt will do initially but you to submit EAD card within 90 days? Meaning which you can join just after applying the EAD. Some one shed the light on this?

I received my card and also the message on online status changed to approved like all other messages out there.
