Urgent Please help

I am applying for I-485 in a day or two expecting that my EAD will come in about three months or sooner . The reason I am doing so is that I will loose my job by April .
In that condition can I join a new job on EAD or can I still be without a job and keep a legal status.
If I join a new job is the job title required to be the same or that could be any type of job?
Will I be in some problem later .

Please advise
 
You can do pretty much any job on EAD.
Said that there are few things you have to keep in mind.

1. The above statement is correct only if your main job is what you are/were doing on your H1B. One way to make this sure is... if you can find a job and transfer your H1 - it will be good.

2. If you cannot do work on your H1 but has to use your EAD. Your primary job should be in the nature of what you were doing... possibily same title and same job description. If not the as much close as possible.

3. You can change jobs under AC-21 law after 180 days of filing your 485 and not been adjudicated by the INS. Once 485 is filed you are in legal status pending adjudication. Until they make a decision one way or the other you dont have to worry about your legal status... however you need to speak to a competent immigration attorney about your Job, VISA and EAD.

Job change after EAD

I believe yiu can chnage jobs only 180 days after getting EAD card. The new job has to be closely related to your job description in GC application. You may want to check this with your attorney.

Its 180 days after applying for I-485, NOT after receiving EAD. Its always safer to wait until I-140 is approved, as employer can withdraw I-140 anytime before its approval, which makes I-485 invalid.

I think its always safer to wait until I-140 approval plus 180 days into I-485 processing.
