Hello All,

I had initiated status inquiry on my case(through my attorney). My 485 application status got updated with this following message. Did anybody get this message. As this message looks to me very strange.

On August 18, 2004, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. If you have not received our response within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Glenmd, it looks like you got an RFE

Request for More Evidence, so hang in there and wait till you or your lawyer get this notice and respond accordingly, hopefullly that would be any easy one for you. Wish you luck and stay intouch and please give more details in your case.
 
Hi I also got the same update - I had called bcis customer serv and updated address change 1 month ago. On Aug 24, the LUD changed and the message looks like this -

Current Status:

On August 21, 2004, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. If you have not received our response within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I 485 EAC03023******
2 APs, 2 EADs
1st FP completed 12/10/02
2nd FP completed on 06/22/04
 
inquiry made

seems like either you or your lawyer called up and inquired about your case and hence they mailed the response to that inquiry
 
I was thinking that, there would be no RFE,

Again i was checking whether anybody got this type of message and if they had got, what is the response they got from USCIS??

I will keep everybody updated regarding the response I got from USCIS from my attorney.

My wife's GC approval notice went back (I don't know why) I called about it, they took lot of information and after 3 weeks the status had changed to exactly similar statment.

I did receive a letter from USCIS explaining me the status of my wife's GC Card, but no approval notice yet (well I got the original from lawyer to get the stamping done)

Don't worry, it seems like you will see something good in the letter.

Same situation here

I had called CIS a few weeks ago to update my address. Yesterday 08/24 the messsage was updated as above.
 
yupe , happened to me as well. It is the result of the case status enquiry that was initiated on your behalf.

status change

i have the same status message on my 485, i had changed address on 2nd Aug 2004 and have got the confirmation letter.
 
I got same mail today

Hi I opend query with INS on my 2nd EAD and 2 nd AP on July 2nd week.
I got my 2nd EAD and AP got approved on AUG 4 th and received EAD card and AP.

Today I got 2 mails from INS, regarding my EAD, saying the same

As my EAD alreday approved on AUG 4 th and I got EAD....
So its not RFE..... just they are updating the status once they send response to your referal.... I should get a leeter in few days..... I will update you all once I get that letter......

I recieved the letter. It said that the case is pending Service Center consideration. It further said I should expect to hear from them in another 60-90 days .. Usual stuff. Nothing exciting.
 
I think it is a new USCIS message. I think what it means is that they open your case and make a decision (whether they approve you or not.) I am not sure.. just my opinion.

Most messages that USCIS put (for example.. can't remember what USCIS messages said exactly):
1) On <date>, We mailed you a fingerprint notice to appear. If you haven't received for 14 days, please call.
2) We mailed you a notice for RFE, If you haven't received for 14 days, please call. blah
3) Your fingerprint was received and .... resume. blah.
3) After approving your I-485, we will mail you a notice.
4) Your 485 application is approved. we mailed you a notice.. blah.
5) your card is ordered.. blah
6) your card is completed. we mailed you a new card. blah
 
Its a message which comes when you change your address. We got a mail today because we changed our address. I am 100% sure its because of address change. It doesnot lead to approval or anything else

Can you tell me how long they took to change the message after you updated your change of addr ? Bcoz I sent my change of address last tuesday. My message is still the same about the my FP collected thing.

Well, After I had called BCIS for address change, it took 3 weeks to change the message like that..
 
Guys this is the standard message that you will see if you initiated an inquiry. If you read it, it says in pure english 'we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. '.

The reponse from USCIS is generally a standard statement like 'Your case is being processed and you will be informed when a desicion is made'. etc. etc.

In the case above they may have wrongly updated with this message, but the message in itself is pretty self explanatory.
 
Thats the beauty of VSC. They dont mean what they say. For e.g they say they are processing cases for AUG 2002....and if you look at the forum they have approved May 2003 cases whereas guys from 2001 are still pending.

Anyway our status also changed to reflect the same message but I am sure there was no inquiry that we initiated
