Urgent... Need some help... H4 - domestic violence

I have a friend who is on H4 visa. For past year she has been going through a rough marriage and is a victim of domestic violence by her husband and mother in law. Her in-laws are threatening her to cancle her H4 visa and later not to extend her status. Her current H4 stamp is valid till february -2007.

What can be done in this situation? What rights does she have as a battered spouse? She has a commerce degree from India and wants to stay here in usa to make her career. Back in India she has very limited family support.

At what stage is the violence and other heated arguments? Are they living separately or is the woman at her friends place.

Whatever the situation pleasecontact an immigration attorney and explain the situation. Depending on the state you are resident we can suggest someone.
