urgent-need help for PR card

Hi all

I landed and applied PR card 8 weeks ago, then came back to US. Today I get the notice from CIC that my photo can not be used. I must retake the photo at the appointed place of CIC on Apr.24. It's so unfortunate and terrible. Now I am in US, and I don't know how to reenter Canada without PR card.

1. Can I call CIC to reschedule the appointment? Did anybody do it?

2. If I can reschedule, how long I can delay it? Which appropriate reasons I can tell CIC?

3. Is there any possible that I apply a travel visa at Canada consulate?

Pls give me advice or any experience. Thanks in advance!

You can Call CIC but you will not be able to call from US, try some calling card if that works, you can reschedule the appointment, send FAX to them with copy of letter that you received, you can send the matter to your friend in Canada and let him Fax it or Speak to CIC, he should give your name, your date of landing and your PP# and complete name and can ask CIC to reschedule your Date, Make the call immediately at least 10-12 days before the given date and give the reason that on this particular date you will be out of Canada for Business trip or state any reason
2. If I can reschedule, how long I can delay it? Which appropriate reasons I can tell CIC?
Some one posted that you cannot ask for particular date but you can ask for particular month or week. You can ask for First week of May or Last week of May or Last week of June or second week of….
3. Is there any possible that I apply a travel visa at Canada consulate?
--- YES, you can apply if your IMM1000 is stamped “ Not Valid for travel” as you have the genuine reasonand show them the letter
Or your friend from Canada can pick you up from US side, you can go in Friends car from US, you can take a Taxi from Buffalo airport to Niagara Falls and cross the Rainbow Bridge by foot.

I am confuse why the officer don't ask my visa for entering Canada when I pass the POE by taking my friend's car.

I'm afraid that it will be big trouble if CIC know I am not in Canada now. Will CIC refuse my PR card app. because I left Canada without the card?

There was not an imm. visa stamp on my passport, the landing paper(Imm 1000) was stamped by "Not valid for travel". I don't know what reseaon I can tell to the consulate officer if I must apply a travel visa, and how to explain that I have landed as a new immigrant but left Canada before got my PR card.

Anybody has the same experience and reschedule the appointment for retaking PR card's photo? Anyone got a travel visa for re-entering Canada to retake a photo or whatever reseaon as a new landed immigrant?

If you have a relative or friend in Canada, you can ask him/her to drive you into Canada in his/her car (canadian plated). It all depends on how you react to answering the questions answered by the customs/immigration official at the border. So far only once I was asked to show Identification (Seattle border). I have used the Peace bridge and queenston bridge umteen times, and never been asked to show any ID.

Does, this mean that I will not be asked to show ID the next time I cross? NO!! I could be asked anytime, and my vehicle could also be searched. Don't take it for granted as to what I had said.

I have heard that you could apply for a single entry permit, provided you can prove to the Candadian Consular officer in the US, that your trip was necessary, and you had to travel to the US.

I am planning to land by road this weekend. I would like to know more information on the PR Card Picture. Was that not as per CIC specs or was picture taken more than 6 months back or any other specific reason ?

Just curious to know so that I can take enough precautions while landing.

Will post my experiance once I land this weekend.

I retook the picture at the POE because the old one attached on the Ident. form was more than 1 year. I don't know another spec.

Are you not in the process of getting your US GC? or didn't tyou get it recently? Which one are you planning on keeping.

My green card's RD is Nov. 01, but it is still pending. I don't know when I can get the approval notice, maybe a couple of months.

My relative has called CIC and faxxed them an application for rescheduling the appointment of retaking photo. I am waiting for the response.

BTW, I wonder how to reenter Canada without any problem if I get my green card recently. Because there is an immi. stamp of Canada on my passport.
 
If you get your US GC, you can enter Canada with US GC, getting US GC the Canada immigration stamp will have no problem. But once you have US GC and Canada PR you have to choose one, you cannot be resident of Canada and US at the same time and cannot maintain both the PR , it is difficult and not legal

No, I don't go to Canada because I am still waiting for the CIC response of my rescheduled application for PR photo.

Did you reenter USA after landing using Advance Parole. If yes, what was the procedure? What questions were you asked? Could you please post your experience as I am planning to go to canada and reenter using AP to file my taxes.

I had traveled back and forth using my H-1 visa but never on AP.

Yes, I reenter US by my AP.

I just submitted my pp and AP. They firstly checked my car and asked if I took food, alcoholic, tobacoo, then let me go to the immi. counter for waiting the process. An officer checked my pp and AP, filled in a new I94, and stamped on my pp,AP, I94 with a stamp. They did not ask me anything. The stamped date is the expired date of my AP.

Since my H-1 visa was 1 enter and expired, I only use AP to reenter US. If you have a valid H-1 visa with multiple enter, just use it instead of AP. Because your H-1 will be invalid after you use your AP, and you only work by EAD instead of H-1.

I presume you are awaiting decision on your AOS application as well as you are a landed immigrant of Canada. When you gave your passport at the border to INS, did he had any query as to why you have candian PR and also applied for US GC. I have read some post in which people were asked these questions. I have a valid AP. What does your AP says...mine says issued pursuant to section 212(d)(5) of INS ACT. Could you please see on your AP and let me know if it is not violating any of your privacy. I have my landing papers which is valid to travel into canada till Dec 31, 03 and would want to apply my PR Card before that.
