Urgent: Need F1 Visa extension!!!

Hi,

I have my I20 till May 31st, 2008 where as the expiry date on visa is Dec 31st, 2007. Can I go to Canada and get a F1 visa extension. what are the complications invovled.
And one other thing that I need to clarify is that, if i go to a visa extension somewhere around this summer and if it is rejected by the consulate in Canada, I can still enter into US using the old Visa that I have???

Will you travel in and out of the US during the last 5 months of your I-20? If not, applying for a visa is not worth it. You can apply for a new F-1 visa in Canada. I believe (and I may be wrong), an individual cannot use AVR if he or she applies for a US visa while abroad.
