URGENT - Lost Job

My 485 RD is 10/19/2001, Case transferred to Cherry Hill, NJ in November 2002 and still haven't heard anything about interview.

My questions are:
Can I apply for unemployment, if so, will it affect my 485 in any way?

How do I apply for unemployment?

What should I take with me to get EAD card?

How long does Cherry Hill take to issue EAD?

Please Help, Thank you.

Since you have to go through interview you 'Must Not' apply for unemployment benifits.

Try to find a job in same or similar position with your EAD as soon as practically possible (Assuming you worked on H1 with your old employer as EB2/EB3 and didn't apply EAD yet).

Hope you will hear about your interview within few months.

I am sorry to hear that.
Long time back I read in this forum that you can file for unemployment if you have EAD. The drawback for that is if you are the primary applicant and if you file for unemployment then BCIS knows so I would advise against it, If you are primary.
Regarding interview, call Cherry Hill local office and ask them how long does it take. We were lucky that we live in middlesex county.

If you know some desi employer try to shift to that company so that you won't have any problem with paystubs etc....
Good luck.

feeling bad to hear this. Finding job is critical in getting GC. Don't apply un-employement benefits now.

dont try to ask for interview date or anything that could prioritize your case for an interview, if you dont have a job. Let sleeping dogs lie.
Once you get someone who can employ you, you can pursue on getting an interview quickly.
Don't collect unemployment if possible.
Good luck to you.

Why not? Since BCIS will be verifying the employment anyways, he has no incentive to keep things under the radar. He's legally eligible and entitled to the money, he might as well collect.

Thanks to everyone for replying.

Can someone tell me what are the chances that BCIS will ask for employment letter?

Thanks again.

BCIS will

ask for employment letter unfortunately........

I am sure you will find a job soon

If it's a local office interview, around 99.9%. File for UI, and then spend every waking hour looking for a job.
