My labor application has been filed in NJ. I am a software
developer.

There are two issues:

1. My company X was taken over by another company Y. I am
now an employee of the company Y which took over.

2. When my labor appliaction for green card was filed my designation was software
engineer. I have got promotion recently and my new jobtitle
is Senior Software Developer.

My question is:

1. Will my labor application for green card till be valid or a new labor need to be filed.
2. I have completed 5 yrs 2 months in H1. If a new labor
is to be filed does it mean that I have to leave US for 1
year.

your GC application should still be valid. If it has been more than 2-3 years since LC was applied your promotion should not matter. However it will be wise to start another LC, but use the previous LC to get the 7th yr extension till the new LC is approved. Suggestion
