Dear All,
I inadvertently missed adding my child/s name in I-140 form (part 7. of the form) that i e-filed this morning. I ubderstood the question to be asking to give details of family members for whom green card application (I-140, I-485 etc; basically me and my wife) was being filed but now i realize that it meant to ask details of all family members "related to person for whom application is being filed" (meaning all family members related to me). Whats the recourse on this and is this going to be a problem or possible reason for rejecting my I-140. Please give your valuable comments. Thanks

I honestly don't think that your I-140 petition would be rejected for this, especially if you realize the mistake and ask for a correction yourself. As you have an SRC number already, call the customer service. They have in the many choices something about correcting mistakes/typos. You will talk to somebody and be explained what you have to do.

I actually realized that my first and last names were swapped in one of the sections of my e-filed I-140. I called as explained above and I was told that the mistake would be corrected. I got an "intervention" number at the time of the call, and I received a few days ago a letter telling me that the data had been updated in my file (meanwhile the petition had been approved anyway and sent to me with the names mixed up... I am not even sure that somebody noted the problem at USCIS).

By the way, how old is your child?

Chris

Thank you ChrisV for the information. I will try calling customer service and getting the problem fixed. My child is 5yrs and a US citizen. Thanks again.

As your child is US citizen, the consequences are nearly null...

It could have been more of a problem if your child would petition later for a green card, once you will have received yours ;)
