I have an EB2 I-485 pending at VSC since Dec. 2001.I am the principal applicant. I was checking status online on USCIS website. there was no change in my status, however foe my wife and son (dependents) it says:

Current Status:

Our last written notice in this case was returned as undeliverable by the post office on September 27, 2004. To update the mailing address so this notice can be re-sent, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.

I had duly filed AR-11 and notified than INS almost 2 years ago.I cant believe INS goofed it. I called again yesterday and updated to new address to all applicants.

Questions:
1. What could be the written notice for dependants? online message doesnt say RFE, NOID etc. should i worry about this.

2. Do I have to wait till USCIS resends the notice to new address or is there something I can do to expedite.

opinions/advise greatly appreciated
thanks

Filling an AR11 does not change your address in the 485 application. These 2 are separate things. I did not know about it 2 weeks ago. I just learnt from the immigration officer. Call in their 1-800 number and change your address. Also, tell them about your status. Also, u need to have your son and wife with you when you call. This is due to some privacy policy.

There is a separate AR-11 computer system. Before mailing out any notices, the officers are supposed to check whether the 'AR-11 screen' has changed and update the paper file and the internal CIS computer accordingly.

Apparently, when FP notices are mailed (automated process), the CIS computer doesn't automatically pull the most recent address and they seem to go to the first address you ever put on file with them.....
(yes, this is the 21st century)

Did your dependents get fingerprinted yet ? could this be a 2nd FP ?

replied RFE (medical) july 2003 and whole family did second finger printing Nov.2003. AR-11 submitted Nov2002. I did call USCIS yesterday and updated the address.

I still wonder what could be the written notice on dependents.
I did apply for third EAD renewal a month ago that might have triggered something.EAD renewal is still pending.

request for resending the approval notice

Hi, I am in the similar situation.

My I-485 application was approved and I saw this information on the USCIS online status update site telling that on September 15, 2004 the approval notice was sent out to me. But after 14 days, the online system showed that this notice was returned by post office as undeliverable on September 28. This was caused by a temporary mail forwarding service that I ordered at my post office at the end of August when I was away from home. I never realized my case got approved so soon and I didn't even know that the post office don't forward government mails even if you had ordered a mail forwarding service (Please be caucious when you think about ordering the mail forwarding service).

I then called the USCIS toll-free number on September 28th to confirm the original address and requested them to resend that letter again. I was told then this could take 3 to 6 weeks to process. Till now, 4 weeks had passed, there seems to be no action taken on my last request. I called them again and the operator told me that I have to wait for 30 days from the day the request was made, meaning that I have to wait until 9/29 to call again.

If you still don' t receive the letter by now (10/23), I guess we have waited the same amount of time for the resend request to be processed, according to your description about that notice. And we are still in the time-frame, although it's frustrating.

If you already received this letter, please tell me how long you took after you requested for the resend.

Thanks.
