Hi,

My I -485 has been approved. That's what my online status shows. But I have not receieved the approval notice yet. So I cannot get my passport stamped. But I have to travel out of the U.S. for work reasons in 2 days. So I don't have time to wait for the approval notice and get my passport stamped. I have a valid Advanced parole. Can I leave the U.S. without a stamped passport and re-enter using my advanced parole even if 485 is approved?

This is urgent. So appreciate any help I can get on this.

Print the online message and go to the local INS tomorrow morning. It is worth takinga chance as you can explain the officer of your urgent travel.

yes, just like he said(vr..), you can take the online print out and go for the stamping.Hope they will stamp you.

I am not sure whether this applies to your case. I asked my lawyer what becomes of my H1 status if my 485 gets approved while out of the country and i dont have AP. I got the the response that in most cases they re-admit without any issues, but in worst case they make you pay a fine of $95 for not carrying card. Since in your case you already have I485 approved before you leave the country, i dont know how rules apply. Better check with your lawyer.

Thanks for your help guys.

Posting info for veryone else's benefit. I finally managed to get a stamp. This is what I did.

-My lawyer emailed me a soft copy of the approval (PDF). I printed it and took it to the INS office early morning.
-I managed to get a token based on the copy of the approval notice. When I got to the window they told me I needed the original.
-I told them that the original wil larrive later that day.
-While I was at the INS office the original arrived at home via Fedex. My wife brough it to me before 2 p.m.
-I showed them the original and got my passport stamp.

Now I can travel today with peace of mind.

Thanks and please share this info with anyone who is in the same situation.
