Urgent help to get TN for new job

Please advise to get new TN status for new job. Presently I am working in USA on TN status, my TN status valid until March-2012. Now I have job offer and they have already send me a letter to get TN status for three years. New job start February 1, 2009. I am thinking to get new TN status this weekend (going to Peace Bridge, Buffalo) Once I will get new TN status then I will give resignation. Is it o.k. or I have to quit first job and then I have to go to get new TN status. Please advise. Also my wife is on H1-B status ( change from TD to H1-B in Oct-2009) and I have two kids. Both kids are on TD status.
 
You can hold multiple TNs, so gettinga asecond one does nothing to the first.

It is wise to get your second TN before resigning first one of course.

The only thing to watch is that the POE may decide not to process your new TN until 2 weeks before it starts. You may be fine, but something to watch for. My opinion is that if you go now, you will be fine getting second TN. do not let them take your first one though, as you still need it for Job 1.

If they decide its too early, at least ask them to look over your paperwork so that there are no surprises when you go back later.

is it o.k. to go with wife and kids to get TN for new job ? My wife is on H1-B and once she got in oct-2009 after that we never cross border.
Please advise.
 
I don't see why not... although it may be a little pointless to bring the entire family there for that one purpose
 
Of course. She has h1 and the kids already have TD. You can even switch the kids to H4 if you wish.
