Hello,

My interview date at US consulate office has been scheduled on 3rd March 2011. I was unmarried at the time of application and still unmarried. But if I will get visa then I will get married. In that case, what will be the best way to apply immigration for my future spouse before going to US? Please let me know.

Thanks.

from what i have been able to gather in this forum, you can apply for your wife only if you are legally married and can prove beyond doubt that u have known each other before visa lottery. but if not can file for her before u leave ur home country or else she may not be able to join u until 5 years time cos if she apply even for visiting she will be refused cos they will say she has immigration intent.hope this helps u.

You can also be denied if the find the marriage is a scam...or just taken place for the visa..basically the same thing.

Now a days plenty of people marry in order to get green card. In case if they came to know this is scam you will be banned to enter USA.

Thanks for the reply. Actually in my case we met each other after I applied for DV lottery as an unmarried person. That's why I did not want to complicated the processing by getting married. My actual question is that, after obtaining visa, can I file immigration for my spouse right away so that both me and she can go US together or she will have to wait 5 years or so? It's not scam or anything.
Any idea will be extremely helpful.

Maybe it is not a scam for you but many people have been scammed by a spouse who liked them so much just to get into the US and straight after getting here filled for divorce and claimed to be a victim of domestic violence...

It is all good up to getting here...so I'm not saying you are not doing the right thing and you might be in love and hopefully your spouse is as well but USCIS has seen this happen too many times and that is why they are very cautious.
