I am looking for some information regarding " Change of LAST Name for the Minor Child".

Recently I received my naturalization citizen ship, And I had option to change the name, But I did not change the name. But now my daughter is going to be 16 in six months ( 12/20/2013 ), I would like to apply for her naturalization ( N 600 ), But she did not want to have the last name what I have, she wanted the last name as my middle name, because that last name not easy to pronounce. I am fine with her request to change her last name.

Please can someone help me here to give me the best solution ( process details and etc. ). I would like to finish this process before her citizen ship certificate and before her high school finishes, she wanted her new last name ( which is my middle name ) on her school certificates, passport , and citizenship certificate.

She born in India and having Green Card and living with us ( both parents ). My wife is Indian citizen and having Green Card and her last name is also same as mine.
Please give me the suggestions. I would like to finish this process as soon as possible

Thank you

N-600 wouldn't be applying for her naturalization; it would be applying for a certificate to prove the citizenship which she already derived as a result of your naturalization.

Her name change would have to be done through a court process, and should take about a couple months (more or less depending on the process in your state/county/city). Contact your City Hall for details of the process; each location has its own different rules and forms and fees.

Thank you for your response. I will go to City Hall and will find out today. What do you suggest, Do I apply for name change first or citizenship certificate?

thank you

Get the name change first. That way the citizenship certificate will have her new name. The citizenship certificate doesn't expire, so it makes sense to have it with the name that she's going to carry for the rest of her life (or at least until if/when she gets married and changes it again!).
